Technimark Debuts Ambitious 2030 Goals in Newly Released Sustainability Brief

ASHEBORO, NC – JUNE 4, 2024 – Technimark, a global leader in plastic injection molding for healthcare, packaging, and specialty industrial markets, announced today the release of its 2023 Sustainability Brief, unveiling ambitious 2030 sustainability goals and detailing performance across three core pillars of People, Planet, and Product.

“Fostering a workplace where every employee can thrive, minimizing our environmental footprint, and delivering innovative products that responsibly provide value has always been fundamental to our business and growth,” said Brad Wellington, Technimark President and CEO.  “Over the past year, we challenged ourselves to accelerate the positive impact we have on the issues that matter most to our stakeholders. Our 2030 goals now serve as our North Star, guiding us forward with focus and commitment.”

The 2023 Sustainability Brief debuts Technimark’s 2030 vision and outlines a comprehensive sustainability strategy. The strategy is informed by an in-depth materiality assessment and aimed at reducing the leading global manufacturer’s climate impact, zeroing out waste to landfill, fostering a diverse and inclusive culture, and advancing sustainability and circularity across the plastics value chain. Additionally, the brief provides a disclosure of performance in alignment with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) transparently highlighting Technimark’s 2023 progress in preparation for expanded reporting against its new goals in the future. Highlights of the brief include:

  • Setting a 2030 target to reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% compared to a 2021 baseline, in line with limiting global warming to 1.5° C
  • Reducing Scope 1 and 2 market-based emissions by over 24% since 2021
  • Diverting more than 85% of waste from landfill or incineration at the majority of Technimark locations
  • Decreasing water consumption more than 12 percent from 2022 to 2023
  • 98 percent of purchased wood fiber from certified sustainable sources
  • A 2023 EcoVadis silver medal, highlighting the company’s sustainability performance within the top 9% of all rated companies and the top 5% within its industry

RJG is pleased to announce the Europe winner of the second annual RJG Mold Smart Award™, Technimark GmbH.

The Mold Smart Award celebrates injection molding companies who have fully committed to improving the quality of their products, lives and the world by implementing a variety of RJG solutions. RJG is presenting one award in three of their global locations: North America, Latin America and Europe.

Technimark was selected in Europe due to their successful utilization of RJG´s training and integration into their ongoing processes and procedures. They are continually seeking to address and improve their plastic injection molded parts and place a high importance on quality and efficiency.

Technimark went through a series of RJG trainings across different workplaces and utilizes the new skills and procedures to reduce scrap and downtime by developing and maintaining stable processes. Based on a systematic approach, they are able to identify problems quickly and implement targeted corrective actions.

Technimark appreciates the opportunity to be taken into consideration for the Mold Smart Award 2023. They dedicate this award to all their leaders who make the development of their people a priority, but also to the employees who take the chance to grow and therefore help Technimark to be as excellent as they strive to be.

Technimark is thankful for the awesome teachers at the RJG team in Germany, who helped the trainees to resurface knowledge and to broadly widen their horizon on what is possible. So much was learned and brought back to Technimark to put to good cause in the future.

Technimark Expands Ireland Facility to Meet Growing Demand in Medical Market

Global plastic injection molding leader doubling size of medical manufacturing facility in Longford, Ireland

LONGFORD, IRELAND, (December 2, 2022) – Technimark, a global manufacturing leader for the medicalmarket, announced today that it had expanded its operations in Longford, Ireland, with a 50,000-square-foot addition, doubling the size of its existing plant. Technimark will be investing €26 million to expand the facility’s capacity in medical manufacturing, including precision injection molding, value-added assembly, finished device assembly and contract manufacturing.

“A key component in our organic growth strategy is ensuring we have state-of-the-art cleanroom facilities and open capacity to support our customers’ current and future manufacturing needs,” said Kris Peavy, chief commercial officer and president of healthcare. “Our many expansions around the globe underpin that strategy.”

In addition to Ireland’s expansion, Technimark recently acquired a 204,000-square-foot medical facility adjacent to its U.S. headquarters and has major expansions underway at facilities in the United Kingdom, Germany and China to support growth in the medical market.

According to Peavy, the company currently serves customers worldwide from 13 manufacturing facilities across North America, Europe and Asia. “We’ve seen tremendous growth in our medical business globally, and our robust pipeline of new contracts from our strategic customers and prospects is driving the need for expansions,” Peavy said.

“Technimark is committed to growing our business in Ireland and we are extremely excited to have this new space available for our global medical customer base,”said Brad Wellington, chief executive officer. “Ireland is seeing pronounced growth in the MedTech market, and our facility is ideally located to serve our customers in the region.”

The new expansion will also include Technimark’s first European Innovation Center. The center will incorporate office space to house designers and engineers as well as a complete production lab to perform prototype manufacturing.

The space, equipped with Class 7 and Class 8 clean rooms, will specialize in medical manufacturing, including precision injection molding, value-added assembly, finished device assembly, contract manufacturing, and logistics operations.

Technimark is committed to expanding cleanroom facilities worldwide that satisfy its global customer base’s specific needs and requirements. This acquisition allows Technimark to expand its healthcare manufacturing footprint on its global headquarters campus. The new Asheboro facility brings Technimark’s global headquarters campus to 1.4 million square feet.
