Technimark acquires Ci Medical Technologies

A new approach to healthcare manufacturing. Thanks to a new combination of resources.

Technimark has always been known for using innovative thinking to come up with new and better ways to get the job done. What you might not know is that this approach extends well beyond the manufacturing floor.

Case in point? Technimark recently announced the purchase of Ci Medical Technologies, a top manufacturer of injection-molded components used in medical, pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare products.

With the addition of Ci Medical’s medical expertise and worldwide infrastructure to our existing resources, we’re creating a new division: Technimark Healthcare. It’s not just about getting bigger; it’s about sharpening our focus on the healthcare market, so we’re better able to serve customers around the world.

Operations at Ci Medical meet ANSI and ISO standards and FDA regulations for the products it manufactures, including insulin pumps, surgical tools and other specialized devices. All of which complements Technimark’s parallel development of a robust healthcare manufacturing infrastructure, including class 8 clean rooms and ISO 13485 certification.

By combining Technimark’s innovative technology-based offering, strong balance sheet and global scale with Ci’s medical market experience, infrastructure and deep capabilities, we’re uniquely positioned to meet a full range of needs today—and to provide many new technologies, solutions and manufacturing options in the future.

With headquarters in Asheboro, N.C., the company operates a total of six global manufacturing sites in the United States, Mexico, Germany and China. The company’s other Mexican plants are located in Mexicali and Reynosa.

“The key to Technimark’s success over the years has been our relentless focus on product innovation, technical excellence and exceptional service,” said Kris Peavy, senior vice president of sales and marketing.

Technimark is hosting a two-day grand opening celebration Oct. 1 and 2 for local dignitaries, government leaders, customers and employees. The Governor of the State of Guanajuato, Miguel Márquez Márquez, participated in the dedication ceremony.

Technimark’s Gary Schiller Receives RJG Training Excellence Award.
rjg-training-award

Technimark’s Gary Schiller was recently named as winner of RJG’s Training Excellence Award, a special honor that recognizes commitment to the RJG Master MolderSM Certification program. He was one of only three to receive the award.

Gary Schiller is our Master Molder III “Train the Trainer” where he provides our in-house training. Technimark currently has 6 people certified as Master Molder II, 10 people certified as Master Molder I, and we have trained 54 people in Systematic Molding. Gary will have trained 100 people in the company by the end of the first quarter of next year.

“I think it is great that Technimark has given him the opportunity and support to train the Systematic Molding and Master Molder I classes. We have heard only positive feedback on what he has been doing with close to 100 people,” said Bruce Winslow, director of Global Operations Molding & Technology. “It is going to impact us greatly in the future, building our people and creating a new processing culture.”

RJG Master Molding training has helped Technimark as a company to commit and dedicate training on systematic molding and standardizing processing methodology on a global scale. Gary received the RJG Training Excellence Award at the MAPP Benchmarking and Best Practices Conference in Indianapolis for his great work and dedication to injection molding.

RJG, an acknowledged international leader in injection molding training, technology and resources, developed the Master Molder program to bridge the gap between classroom instruction and implementation on the production floor.

The award was presented in October at the MAPP (Manufacturers Association For Plastics Processors) Benchmarking Conference in Indianapolis.

Technimark to Double China Capacity, Add Cleanroom.

To stay ahead of growing demand in Asia, Technimark is doubling the size of the facility in Suzhou, China.

The yearlong project will double the current manufacturing capacity and add enough space to accommodate more than two dozen new injection molding manufacturing cells.

A key aspect of the expansion is the creation of an ISO class 8 clean room environment that will conform to ISO 14644-1 air cleanliness standards. New program awards and strategic medical customer requirements for advanced technology have necessitated the initial expansion of Technimark’s Suzhou facility. This will enable us to produce and distribute a wide range of custom medical device and consumer healthcare-related products throughout Asian markets.

Thinking even further ahead, plans are already in place to double the cleanroom capacity as demand warrants. Technimark also has the ability to further expand the footprint at the Suzhou facility to continue to meet the needs of this rapidly growing market well into the next decade.

Technimark to Double Size of Germany Operation

To satisfy a burgeoning customer base and to build for the future, Technimark is preparing to double the manufacturing capacity of the existing Aachen, Germany plant.

With this expansion, the Aachen facility will bring some of the latest injection-molding technologies directly to the European market and foster the kind of seamless global technology transfer that Technimark customers increasingly demand.

This ambitious project also completes a transformation that began in 2004, when Technimark first purchased what was at the time a textile manufacturing plant. Over the years, we’ve worked to re-create Aachen as a modern injection molding facility; 2014 will mark the official relocation of all textile operations and a complete focus on our core competency: consumer packaging.
