Asheboro, N.C. (Date) – Technimark, a global leader in the design and manufacturing of high-value injection-molded packaging and components serving the consumer packaging, healthcare and industrial markets, announced the opening of its new Donald F. Wellington Innovation Center at the company’s Asheboro, N.C. campus.

The state-of-the art facility is named for Technimark founder Donald F. Wellington who in 1983 started the company that has grown into one of the world’s largest independent injection molders. Technimark is a member of Pritzker Group, which owns and operates market-leading companies in the manufactured products, services and healthcare sectors.

The nearly 30,000 sq. ft. Innovation Center includes a complete production lab to perform prototype manufacturing of new products along with customer offices and meeting rooms, a board room and other workspaces.

“Devised and built to consolidate Technimark’s design and engineering staff from across the company, the Innovation Center embodies everything we’ve learned from 32 years of developing innovative solutions,” said Kevin Hedspeth, senior vice president of Global Technology & Development. “It will ultimately house 50-plus designers, process and automation engineers and materials development experts to serve our clients’ expanding needs.” Mr. Hedspeth noted that Technimark will continue to retain regional designers throughout its 11 locations worldwide.

In addition to a unique building design that encourages collaboration at every level, Mr. Hedspeth said the Innovation Center includes full video and web conferencing; an array of cameras in the manufacturing area so customers remotely can watch their product as it’s made; and 3D-printing capabilities for rapid development of prototype tools and parts.

“What really distinguishes the Innovation Center is that Technimark has combined our design and engineering capabilities with on-site prototype manufacturing,” said Mr. Hedspeth. “That means we can help our customers envision how they want their packaging to look and function and then follow that process through to completion in front of their eyes.”

According to Mr. Hedspeth, Technimark believes that true innovation requires the combination of cutting-edge technologies and industry-leading manufacturing expertise.

“The Innovation Center allows our customers to work directly with our designers and engineers and literally see the product created right then and there so they can quickly respond to a changing marketplace,” Mr. Hedspeth said.

In essence, Technimark is providing its customers with a “one-stop shop” that empowers them to move from concept to completion quickly and successfully enabling quick response in an ever changing marketplace”, he said.

According to Don Wellington, chairman and founder of Technimark, the company’s sterling reputation in the industry “was built not only on reliability and speed-to-market, but also on our use of technology and ingenuity. That has allowed Technimark to lower costs, increase value and deliver ground-breaking products and category-shaping packaging that take differentiation to a whole new level.”

“I’m honored and proud to say that this amazing Innovation Center is the next step in the evolution of our commitment to customers,” Mr. Wellington said.

Over the last year, Technimark acquired Ci Medical Technologies, a top-tier manufacturer of injection-molded components, assemblies and devices used in the medical, pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare markets. The company also established a new commercial division, Technimark Healthcare, which focuses exclusively on servicing health care and medical customers.

“The Donald F. Wellington Innovation Center will help us continue to expand our capabilities, enhance our culture of continuous innovation, and stay on top of our clients’ current and future needs,” said Technimark CEO and President Brad Wellington. “For the last 30-plus years, we’ve never lost sight that our success depends on our customers’ success,” he said. “In short, it’s what we’re all about.”

tm-2016-external-business-partner-award

For the second time in eight years, Procter & Gamble (P&G) has honored Technimark with one of its most prestigious recognitions: the 2016 External Business Partner of the Year Award.

In addition, Technimark was one of only 32 companies to receive The External Business Partner Excellence Award from P&G which the company has won every year it has been awarded since its inception in 2008.
The awards were formally presented to the company on Oct. 13, 2016 at a dinner in Cincinnati, Ohio, where P&G is headquartered. P&G Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer David Taylor was the keynote speaker at the event.

Taylor asked P&G’s external business partners to continue to strive for the best collaborative relationship with P&G, saying: “We’re focused in getting back to balanced growth. Our supplier partners have a key role to play in our ability to deliver top-line, bottom-line and cash. The more integrated and connected P&G and our supplier partners are, the better able we are to be more innovative and productive in meeting consumers’ needs and, as a result, deliver balanced and sustainable growth and value creation for our shareholders.”

Since 2008, P&G has recognized its top performing external business partners through its External Business Partner Performance Development Process (PDP). P&G established the PDP to “define, measure and collaboratively enhance the performance of its business partners to exceed business needs and enhance relationships.” By improving the collective performance of its partners in a truly collaborative manner, P&G aims to help both P&G and its business partners succeed. The PDP focuses on metrics associated with the commercial, operational, innovation and relationship performance categories.

From its ranks of more than 50,000 suppliers and agencies, only twelve received the highest honor of being named Excellence Award winners and “External Business Partner of the Year.”

“Technimark is honored to be selected as one of P&G’s most valued external business partners.” said Brad Wellington, President and CEO of Technimark. “This recognition from one of the leading global CPG companies could not be more rewarding. We are proud of our long history of successful partnership with P&G and look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future to create growth for both companies.”

Technimark Invests to Grow Healthcare Business

Access to Increased Resources and Technology Appeals to Customers

Asheboro, N.C. — With its recent acquisition of Ci Medical Technologies, Technimark, a global manufacturer of custom rigid plastic packaging and components, launched a separate medical division, Technimark Healthcare.

“The new division expands Technimark’s decade-old healthcare business by combining our global footprint, technical capabilities and financial resources with Ci Medical’s blue-chip customer base,” said Kris Peavy, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Technimark. “We were especially excited to add Ci Medical’s extensive experience in the healthcare market, including product development, scientific molding, contract manufacturing, assembly, packaging and logistics.”

Technimark serves customers worldwide from its 11 manufacturing facilities across North America, Europe and Asia. Mr. Peavy noted the company has prepared for rapid growth in its healthcare business over the past 18 months by doubling the size of its facilities in Germany and China as well as building new state-of-the-art facilities in Mexico and Asheboro, N.C. Operations at Technimark Healthcare facilities meet applicable ANSI and ISO standards and FDA regulations for the manufacture of medical products, including insulin pumps, surgical tools and other specialized devices.

“Since the acquisition six months ago, we’ve built a dedicated healthcare team that’s already providing added value to our customers by combining the individual strengths of Technimark and Ci Medical,” said Mr. Peavy.

The reception from both current and prospective customers has been universally positive, Mr. Peavy said, noting that client retention has been 100 percent. “Over its many years in business, Ci Medical built an enviable track record of success,” he said. “When we first began to explore the possibility of joining forces to build on that success, both organizations recognized immediately what a remarkable fit this would be.

“Combining what Technimark brought to the table – access to capital, global resources and technological know-how – with Ci Medical’s expertise and client roster, we knew Technimark Healthcare would be a new Tier One health products and packaging company in the industry,” Mr. Peavy said. “Our customers see those opportunities, and they’re ready to grow with us.”

Ci Medical was founded in Pennsylvania in 1971 as Classic Industries, Inc. As the company grew, it specialized in injection-molded components for medical, pharmaceutical and healthcare applications worldwide. Technimark is a world-class, custom injection molder for the world’s most admired companies and respected brands in the healthcare, consumer packaging and industrial markets. Established more than 40 years ago, Technimark is one of the top 10 molders in North America with nearly 3,300 employees. For more information, visit Technimark.com.

Technimark has always been known for using innovative thinking to come up with new and better ways to get the job done. What you might not know is that this approach extends well beyond the manufacturing floor.

Case in point? Technimark recently announced the purchase of Ci Medical Technologies, a top manufacturer of injection-molded components used in medical, pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare products.

With the addition of Ci Medical’s medical expertise and worldwide infrastructure to our existing resources, we’re creating a new division: Technimark Healthcare.
